Dear Sir,
In January, Val Fawcett and the other former members of AARMS made a very generous donation of £400 towards PLAY CAFÉ activities. Trustees and Volunteers are immensely grateful to them. We have a lot to be thankful for.
The first opportunity we had to use this funding was February Half Term. We hosted a RELAX Kids session and Ice Cream Parlour with Craft activities at NAYCC. Sam led a super session reminding everyone of the ‘Invisible Strings of Love’ connecting us to our families, and of the positive power of love. Without the AARMS donation, we would not have had Sam’s involvement, which is ongoing for those who wish it. Thank you to Sam, and also to Beki and her team at the Youth & Community Centre.
In the Easter holidays, the funding will help us with eggy experiences, and an Easter Bunny craft activity, followed in week two by some Dancercise – Strictly fans or maybe Billy Elliot! As this is the year to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we will use more of the money to enable us to host a Jubilee event in the summer half term holiday. Lots of activities are planned, thanks to Val and the AARMS Team.
PLAY CAFÉ project aims to address issues of social isolation and holiday hunger, by providing opportunities for families to relax and meet other people outside of the home. Food is always offered as part of the session and also as Food Support, for those in financial difficulties. Thank you, Val Fawcett, for encouragement from the very start of PLAY CAFÉ.
