Dear Sir,
I write on behalf of DISC, a North East charity established in 1984. The charity works towards helping people and their communities to deal with a number of issues such as Unemployment, Crime, Poverty, Addiction, Homelessness and Family Breakdowns. DISC also recently became a Registered Social Landlord offering quality affordable housing, and operates a social enterprise.
The charity has seen every day the difficulties people have to face and the inspiring stories; this is what motivates the charity into continuing the high quality service that’s provided.
DISC is celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year. At the moment we are currently spending time asking people for ‘coat donations’. The idea of this project is to build a supply of warm winter clothing ready for winter 2014. This is to support the many vulnerable people facing poverty and minimal income. It’s a sad thing to think people of all ages could be faced with such a harsh and even life threatening few months of intense cold weather without the means to keep warm.
We also collect unwanted furniture and encourage people to think twice before throwing away any unwanted items. Collections can be arranged at your convenience and are free of charge from anywhere within County Durham where they will be taken to our Newton Aycliffe workshop for refurbishment.
We would be more than happy to collect coats along with furniture. Coats can be dropped off at our Head Office, Sapphire House, next to the Blue Bridge in Newton Aycliffe. If this is not possible please let us know and we may be able to collect coats on route to furniture collections.
Thank you for taking the time to read this email and to consider taking part in a simple yet effective way of supporting a local charity.
