Newton Aycliffe Rugby Club are pleased to invite any adult males and females, 18+ years, to our open day on 13th November.
The club is in the process of rebuilding its squad numbers for the current 1st XV.
The idea of the open rugby day is designed to allow people who have never tried the sport, to come along and learn basic rugby skills, and have fun. If you have any experience and are new to the town please come down, introduce yourselves and join in. Just as important, it is hoped that the ladies in the town and surrounding villages will also come down and get a feel for the sport. One of the clubs main aims is to create a Ladies XV. This will be an exciting project as many clubs in the UK have a ladies team and it is one of the fastest growing sports in the country. It is hoped that enough ladies join no matter what experience levels they possess and will create a self managed team to rival other clubs in the North East. The game of rugby is easy to understand and learn. It’s also one of the safest to play. So, with the tune of Here Come The Girls planted in your heads let’s see how many of you get down for a fun introduction to rugby session. The event will finish off with a mixed gender tag rugby game, which will be great fun!
The session will be followed by an Aycliffe 1st XV game, you will be welcome to stay and watch and then enjoy the after match hospitality.
As a bonus, the England v Australia autumn international will be shown on the club tv screens from 5:30 ko.
So, ladies and gents, let’s see as many of you down Moore Lane Sports Club. Meet 12pm, the session will end 1:30pm. Children are welcome to come and watch from the sidelines, providing they are suitably supervised at all times. 1st XV KO 2:15pm.
