Funding from Durham County Council and Bishop Auckland AAP through Fun & Food allowed Spectrum Roller Skating Club to provide a selection of Summer Holiday Roller Boot Camps benefitting lots of local children this Summer.
The club was able to provide a total of 16 hours of free activities including off skates games and exercises, arts and crafts, roller skating lessons, circle time and a chill out roller disco. The children, aged between 6 and 15, enjoyed food which was delivered by Shildon Alive.
“It was so worthwhile,” said Tracy Stevens, coach of Team Spectrum. “The children and volunteers had lots of fun together whilst unlocking new skills, achieving goals and developing through play and guided activities.”
“It was so lovely to watch our more experienced skaters offer help to our new starters. We are very pleased to be able to offer opportunities to get active, encourage healthy eating, learn new skills and make new friends – and deliver sessions which promote positivity and well-being through roller skating.”
“Well done to everyone who came along and made our summer the most amazing ever! A massive thank you to everyone who helped us to make this happen.”
