Once again, Darlington Piano Society’s forthcoming season brings international pianists to the town in a series of recitals demonstrating the amazing extent of the classical repertoire and the talent of its performers. It begins with a return visit by Leon McCawley on 16th October in a programme of works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert which he will perform beforehand at London’s premier chamber music venue, the Wigmore Hall. All the pianists in the remainder of the season will be making their first visits here and two of these are international competition major prize winners – Mario Häring (2nd prizewinner, Leeds 2018) and Mariam Batsashvili (winner of the 2014 Liszt competition) on 20th November and 15th January 2023 respectively. These are both outstanding young pianists building international careers. Mariam is also giving her Darlington programme at the Wigmore Hall three days earlier and such is her growing international reputation that tickets have been sold five months in advance of her recital here. The recital on 11th December features the young British pianist, Mark Viner, who is the chairman of both the Liszt Society and the Alkan Society, and his recital includes works by both in his programme.
Full details of the season can be found at www.dpiano.co.uk – Recitals take place in Central Hall at the Dolphin Centre on Sunday afternoons at 3pm.
