Only one home game this weekend with most of our pitches at the OakLeaf, waterlogged, it was mainly the teams that travelled who could restart after the festive break
Belmont Robins 1 v U11 Wildcats 6
A very good game after a long break and the team performed as if we’d never had one. The passing, moving and effort was outstanding from every player. A fantastic win, with goals from Phoebe, Lucy x 2 and a Nyah hat-trick. Amongst the goals were two team goals passing from back to front superbly. A happy team, two happy coaches and a lot of happy parents.
Deerness Valley Storm 3 v U14 Eagles 5
The Eagles started the new year with an outstanding team performance from front to back today against a very good side. Each player gave 100%. The encouragement and communication from the team towards each other was brilliant. A well deserved 3 points.
Goals from Adam x 2, Liam, Will and Olly. MOTM: Zac.
South Shields 5 v U14 Girls 3 (QF Cup)
So much more than just football, as a football family, pre game, we stood together and paid our respect to a school friend who sadly passed away this week, Jack Jose rest in peace mate.
Quarter final day against a tough premier league side but in a test the girls proved they are capable of playing at that level. Not our day goal wise but the Aycliffe girls should be proud of their performance.
Deerness Valley Girls 0 v U12 Girls 5
The girls were back in action after 4 weeks of no football, and got off to a fantastic start in 2023 with a comfortable win. The team took no time getting back into the swing of things and went 2-0 up within the first 10 minutes. Aycliffe went on to score 3 more goals throughout the remainder, game without conceding. MOTM: Hannah.
U12 Eagles 2 v Billingham Juniors 0
Aycliffe totally dominated the game from start to finish, with all players contributing to today’s win and a well deserved 3 points. The defence in particular, of Carter, Dylan, Lucas and Riley, were outstanding. Goals from Jack V and Brandon. MOTM: Evan.
Boldon Girls v U10 Girls
On a run of nine games unbeaten, the girls were ready for a tough challenge after the festive break, having only managed a draw at their first meeting. The girls started well with a lot of passing to move up the pitch, Phoebe had a strong run up the pitch and layed off to Lily, who slotted the ball into the top corner. Next Poppy H crossed the ball in from a corner and a deflection from a Boldon player made it 2-0. To end the half, Amelia found herself in front of the goalkeeper, from a Poppy H pass, and calmly passed it into the net. Second half was a bit slower but after hitting the bar twice, Poppy B managed to get herself on the score sheet with a shot from distance
MOTM went to the goalkeeper Daisy, who made some important saves and managed to keep a clean sheet.
Redcar Town v U9 Eagles
The Eagles returned from their winter break with an entertaining game against Redcar Town Royals. Eagles played some brilliant football and battled hard against a very strong team who have only lost once all season. Although the lads didn’t win they should be very proud of how they battled well together as a team with Floyd Rowe scoring a screamer in the top corner in the last minute.
Winlaton Hurricanes 6 v U14 Girls 0 (Sunday)
First game back in 2023 was a cup match that didn’t go to plan. We were on top for 15 minutes but didn’t take our chances. Four quick goals from Winlaton, in a 15 minute spell, put the game out of reach. Star players were Saf (players choice) & Lana (coaches choice).
Under 6 Eagles (Boys) and Under 7 Wildcats (Girls)
Our 2 newest teams are preparing for friendlies, leading to joining the league in September 2023. The boys and girls have been working well in training, but we still have a couple of places left in each team.
