Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club, Junior Sports Club of the Year winners at the recent Sport and Physical Activity Awards for County Durham, have teamed up with Greenfield School, winners of Secondary School Contribution to PE and School Sport at the same event, to establish a new exciting Table Tennis Satellite Club.
Matthew Porter, Head Coach of Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club and coach at Greenfield believes this is a great opportunity for both the school and club,
“This is a fantastic opportunity for Bishop Auckland Table Tennis and Greenfield Community College, thanks to the support from County Durham Sport and Sport England, we are able to take this exciting sport into a new area.  We have been able to create a new unique club for the young people of Newton Aycliffe.  Hopefully some of the young people will also go on to take part in additional club sessions.”
The new Sport England funded Satellite Club project coordinated by County Durham Sport, aims to get more young people taking part in sport by taking activity to the heart of the local community.
The fun, community sessions based at Greenfield Community College are on every Monday 4:30-5:30pm (term time only). The session is aimed at all abilities to provide fun-filled sessions whilst learning key technical skills of Table Tennis.
The first session is free, usual cost £2, players aged 8 and above are more than welcome. For more information please contact Michael Rippon on 07879117224.
