Justin Adam Hindmarch, who is a relative newcomer to the club, recently took part in the Edinburgh Marathon. This was Justin’s first attempt at the distance and almost gave up in the last 3 miles but battled on to achieve the excellent time of 3hrs:49m:30s.
Nine members of Aycliffe Running Club took part in the annual Middlesbrough 5k last Sunday. It was a very hot but great atmosphere and several of the runners achieved PBs. This must have been helped by fact that the race finished in the Middlesbrough football stadium to the inspiring music of The Chariots of Fire amidst a lot of cheering.
Richard Campbell was 1st home for the club in 18:08 and a PB, finishing in 95th position, followed by Tom Porter, 107th 18:33 PB, Peter Smith, 163rd, 19:33, Kelly Smith, 270th 21:34 PB, Steve Smith, 305th, 21:58, Susan Milburn, 387th 23:17 and 1st F/55, Trish Kay, 427th 23:41PB, Yvonne Williams, 754th 28:11, and finally Elaine Morgan 828th 29:26.
The previous day two members of the club ran in the Hardwick Hall park run.
Gary Minns finished in 24m:12s, whilst Susan Clark achieved  personal best in 29:05.
Entries are now being taken for Aycliffe 10k and Fun Run on 15/06/14. For details see http://www.ayclifferunningclub.org.uk
