Scott Carpenter 25 from Sedgefield Water Polo Club in Newton Aycliffe, is now a professional Water Polo player who lives and plays in Melbourne Australia for the Victorian Tigers.
Scott is shown here being presented, as captain, with the Victoria State ‘Team of the Year’ award for 2013 for the Tigers completing the National double. Scott is the first ‘Pom’ to ever captain an Australian polo team to  the National titles.
This is the first time the polo team has won this award as there is stiff competition from Pro cricket, football, rugby and Aussie rules football.
Scott is now eligible to play for Australia and was hoping to play this year but unfortunately he is out of the water for 6 months due to surgery on long term shoulder problems. Scott started playing polo when he was 5 years old and was also a National Swimming Champion.
Scott represented GB over 100 times and broke all the goal scoring records in the sport while playing for Sedgefield WPC and he was the first British player ever to play in the top Pro leagues of Italy, Spain and Australia.
Water Polo in GB is strictly amateur, while in the top leagues players can earn six figure salaries and enjoy great lifestyles.
Scott hopes to be able to play in the 2016 Rio Olympics for Australia if injuries allow.
