Bakery giant Gregg’s is eyeing up another store for Newton Aycliffe – spelling good news for sausage roll lovers across the town.

A planning application to amend a unit at the new Sydney House is being reviewed by Durham County Council officers, with a decision expected imminently. Documents show the new cafe, if approved, will have a small seated area. Work will commence in the next few weeks, with an opening date planned for late summer.

Another tenant at the newly refurbished Sydney House are Team Warrior TKD, a TaeKwonDo training school, who have also obtained a grant from GAMP to cover the cost of the padded floor. This room will be available for other groups looking for this kind of venue.

Sydney House is named after the Newton Press founder, Syd Howarth, and will forever be a legacy to the work he did for Newton Aycliffe.
