Students at Greenfield Community College enjoyed an opportunity to find out about the risks of smoking during an action packed performance by the Gibber Theatre Group last week.
The lively performance covered all aspects relating to the dangers of smoking and empowered students by providing them with the information they need to make informed choices.
Peer pressure, addiction, health risks, gender issues and financial implications were part of the strong message given to all of Year 9 students.
After lunch students experienced a workshop which gave them the opportunity to work with the actors, ask questions and examine how they may be influenced by others. This performance followed a number of similar experiences which have taken place at Greenfield recently. Previous performances have informed students about road safety, online safety and healthy eating issues.
Yet again students at Greenfield have benefited from a focused learning event, and left feeling the message they were given, although serious, will help them in the future.
