Congratulations to Susan Luckhurst who has just qualified as a MiDAS assessor and trainer. MiDAS is the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme and is administered by the Community Transport Association.
The scheme provides a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers and has been designed to enhance minibus driving standards and promote the safer operation of minibuses. Susan has been with us a number of years as an experienced volunteer driver and is now available to train other volunteer minibus drivers free of charge.
Does your organisation or community group have the need to hire a minibus for trips out and social or educational purposes? We cover Shildon, Newton Aycliffe and the surrounding villages. Why not get in touch to find out about affiliating with us and nominate a driver to be trained? Volunteer drivers must be over 21 and have held a full licence for more than two years. Your licence may show a category D1, B or B1, but other categories may also be sufficient. If you would like to explore this opportunity without any obligation, please contact our Bus Manager Ian on 07921 239603 or phone the office on 01388 773666 and leave a message or email shildonbus@yahoo.com. We will invite you in to discuss the role in more detail.
We are also looking for administration volunteers. The role requires a commitment of three hours every two weeks in our office in Shildon. Training will be provided. Please leave your contact details with the bus office if you would like more information.
