All games last weekend observed a minutes silence before the game, to show respect to HM Queen Elizabeth II.
All 19 of our youth teams started their league campaigns over the weekend, as well as our Adult teams. There were league team debuts for the U7 Eagles, who were just beaten by Darlington Young Bulls and U8 Eagles who couldn’t match an extremely good Richmond team, as well as our U10 Girls who had a win on their debut v Durham Utd.
The other mini soccer teams U9 Eagles, U10 Eagles and U9 Wildcats all had difficult starts against strong opposition, although all played very well, the results didn’t match their efforts.
The U11 Wildcats and U11 Eagles moved up to 9v9 this season and both had strong starts to the season, however the girls were edged out by CLS Diablos but the boys travelled to Northallerton and came away with a very convincing win with a hattrick from Sam, Faris 2 and Tarek with the goals.
The U12’s both started their first competitive season at 9v9.
U12 Eagles 2 v 2 Kader: Two goals from Jack V put the boys in control at half time but Kader grabbed 2 goals to draw level. Chances for both teams but the points were shared. MOM Evan.
NSG Lionesses 0 v 5 U12 Girls: A fantastic start in the girls’ competitive debut. The scoring was opened after 3 mins from Yasmin. Peyton and Lily both found the net in the first 10mins. Annabelle scored the girls 4th before half time to put them in complete control. The game was completed with a 2nd from Peyton to round off a top draw performance.
U13 Girls travelled to Easington Colliery despite a great effort, and goals from the girls in the second half, the points stayed with the home team.
U13 Angels 3 v 3 Darlington FC: The Angels took a 2-0 lead through Sophie and then Faith. Darlington pulled a goal back before half-time and drew level shortly after. They then took the lead and the Angels had to battle hard to get something from the game. Attack after attack finally resulted in an equaliser as Faith scored her second. An exciting last few minutes followed, but a draw was the final outcome.
Silksworth Hall 2 v 0 U14 Eagles: Silksworth first goal came from a corner. Olly was then through on goal, about to take a shot and was fouled just outside the box. Unfortunately we couldn’t make anything from the free kick. The second half continued with both sides evenly matched but a ball over the top was tucked away by Silksworth. All in all a good performance but without any rewards. MOM Zac.
U14 Girls 4 v 4 Durham County: Despite being 1-3 down at HT the girls battled for a well earned draw. Goals: Amy, Megan, Bailey and Faith POTM Amy.
Winlaton 2 v 2 U14 Girls: Our newest girls team have joined the Durham FA Sunday League and earned a draw. Goals from Faith and a penalty from Evie P. Star Player Tilly and Players Player Poppy.
Redcar 5 v 2 U16 Girls: The opposition move into a commanding position with a 5-0 lead before the girls started to play late in the 2nd half then the game turned in our favour and 2 goals came quickly from Leah and Mia, but too late.
U18 Boys 3 v 3 Whickham Fellside: Aycliffe found themselves 2-0 down with 10 minutes to go. It was then pulled back to 2-2 with goals from Josh Imerson and George Tinkler. With 2 minutes to go, Wickham scored from a corner to make it 3-2. From the resulting kick off, Aycliffe went up the other end and won a penalty which was scored by Leo Brown in the last minute to share the points.
