Esme Kavanagh, a pupil at Aycliffe Village Primary School, has won a prize in a well-being competition organised for children.

During lockdown Hannah Bell, creator of The Brainy Bunch, Go Well, provider of wellbeing and fitness programs in schools, and illustrator Liz Million all got together to run the competition. The aim of the competition was to encourage children to design a poster to show what makes them happy. By doing this Hannah hoped that it would help children improve their own wellbeing and if they shared their poster with others it would help to improve their wellbeing too.

Esme was a winner in the 8-11 year old category. She is pictured with her poster which is now displayed in her Year 5 classroom at Aycliffe Village Primary School and is helping to give ideas to other children about what they can do to keep themselves happy.

Her prize included a copy of the Brainy Bunch book written to help children understand how their brain works and help them to control their emotions.

“I was very happy that won the competition. I worked really hard. There were a lot of entries and I am pleased that Liz Million chose mine.”
