The weather was warm and sunny on the 9th June for the Blaydon Race and couldn’t have been more different from last year when the Scotswood Road was under an inch of water.

Five Aycliffe members were among well over 3000 runners who took to the start line. Andrew Robertson, running with his wife Aly, entered the ‘me and wor lass’ category, finishing in 42:35; all the more impressive as they had been celebrating Andrew’s birthday the day before.  Tom Porter was first home for the club in 37:57, Simon Robinson 46:46, Judith Porter 49.14 and David Thompson 55:28.

Elaine Pearson, Penny Johnson, Denise Raine, Yvonne Williams and Elaine Morgan joined friends and thousands of other women to take part in the Race for Life at Darlington South Park.

It was a great day with a wonderful atmosphere as women walked, jogged or ran round the park. No fast times, just a fun day for a good cause. Susan Clark travelled to St Albans to take part in the half marathon. She recorded a fantastic time of 2 hours 14 mins in her first half marathon for the club – beating her previous time by 10 minutes.

Martyn Knox completed the Windermere Marathon in an excellent 4 hours and 2 minutes.
