Can you help us fill a container with any surplus goods you may have to be sent in June to one of the poorest countries in Africa.

This appeal is for Bauleni Special Needs School. The school provides education and support to children with physical and learning disabilities as well as serving as a primary school for the children who live in the compound surrounding the school.

The compound, which is described as worse than a shanty town, with no running water or sanitation, is home to more than 20,000 people Outbreaks of diseases such as cholera are frequent.

Children throughout Zambia have been severely affected by the country’s poor social, economic and cultural growth, its lack of resources and the prevalence of HIV/Aids.

Anything that would be of use to the school/community would be appreciated. Football strips, balls and other sports equipment encourage physical development and growth; pens, stationery and children’s reading books help with learning; soap and toiletries assist with hygiene as do antiseptics and dressings; clothes for all ages are needed; basic tools help with developing life skills as does cooking and gardening equipment and creative materials.

You may have other items which are surplus to your needs which can be put to very good use in Bauleni – anything working and in good condition is valuable.

If you have anything you could donate to Bauleni please contact us at: Holy Family Parish, St Mary’s Church, 1 Burn Lane, Newton Aycliffe, DLS 4HT. 01325 313611 or anthony.cornforth@gmail.com
