On March 10th 2021, we were saddened to hear of the sudden passing of our player and friend, Andrew Firth. ‘Firthy’ played for Newton Aycliffe Sports Club FC on a Sunday morning. We made a promise to his family that we would honour his memory and, as such, we have organised a memorial day on their behalf.
The Andrew Firth Annual Memorial Cup will be hosted on Saturday 17th July at Moore Lane Sports Club. It will consist of a four team tournament from local sides with one team being made up of his closest friends and family.
The tournament will kick off at 12pm, with admission for the public starting from 11.30am. Entry cost is £3 for adults and £1 for children. A food kiosk will be available inside the grounds. Subject to government guidelines and Covid restrictions, there will also be live entertainment on the evening and a DJ set. However, numbers will be restricted for anything indoors and you will need to speak to the management team at Newton Aycliffe Sports Club to request availability/tickets.
Monies raised will be donated to selected charities chosen by the family. So please, if you are interested in attending, put the date in your diaries and get yourselves down for what will be an entertaining and emotional day.
