September is the month we celebrate recovery from addiction and also make people aware of addiction and how its can affect anyone from any walk of life.
DASS – Durham Alcohol Self Support has entered its second year in Newton Aycliffe and the group is growing in numbers. We have a very informal meeting every Thursday from 11am – 1pm in the Ash Room at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre. The group is member-led, where like minded people find support from one another with all aspects of alcohol problems no matter how big or small. A long running member who has achieved sobriety through the group now runs the group. Addiction is now becoming less of a taboo and the group took part in the 7th Annual UK Recovery Walk at the Sands in Durham on 12th September where tens of thousands attended as part of the recovery month.
