A former Aycliffe TA Solider, now an RAF Squadron Leader, returned to his roots in the military at the TA Open Day last weekend.
Stuart Rhymer attended Byerley Park and Greenfield Comprehensive. He joined up from school and at the end of that engagement went to Teesside Poly, while spending 10 years in the TA, four years at Aycliffe with two operational tours as an Officer in Bosnia and Kosovo.
Stuart then joined the RAF as a regular Engineering Officer, specialising in communications and has completed many tours to Iraq and Afghanistan, working with the Army. He currently works as a project manager for Information Systems and Services (ISS).
“The Reserve Forces played an important role in my personal and professional development, helping immensely in both my military and civilian careers . The sense of purpose, community and being able to give something to the wider fabric of society is something I feel strongly about and the Reserve Forces give people that opportunity.” said Stuart
