Students from Woodham Academy recently competed in the South West Area Regional Athletics at Sunnydale running track Shildon on Thursday 16th May. The event is for schools throughout the South West Durham area stretching as far east as Sedgefield and west as Teesdale School and Barnard Castle. Woodham’s team was made up from students in years 9 and 10 and competed in different track and field events.
Notable performances came from Callum Smith 2nd in 800m, Callum Clasper 1st in shot putt, Alex Coatsworth 2nd in high jump, Kaleb Stephenson 2nd in discus and Chloe Farley 2nd in shot putt. Due to their placing all 5 students have qualified to compete in the Durham County Athletics meet later on in June.
