Sue King
Billy Elliot gave way to 49 teachers and their supporters as the National Teaching Awards arrived in the capital on Sunday 21st October.  Sports presenter Clare Balding hosted the annual celebration at the Victoria Palace Theatre, with Woodham’s award recipient, Head of History, Sue King, amongst the guests of honour.  Since the award was first announced last summer the Academy has enjoyed further GCSE success from students taught by Sue and her team, with 91% gaining a grade C or higher.  A remarkable 48% achieved the top grades of A and A*, some having studied the course for just one year.

Sue attended the ceremony with seven family members and deputy headteacher Ian Bickerdike, who commented “It was a privilege to share in Sue’s day, she is a model professional who truly inspires our young people”.
