Woodham Academy is ensuring their students receive much more than the traditional 3 R s: in addition to reading, writing and arithmetic, their busy extra-curricular programme is aiming to provide learners with their full Five a Day.
Whether choosing to Zumba or Samba in their lunchtime, or constructing working- model aircraft, Woodham Academy’s varied lunchtime timetable has something for every taste.
Since September the extra-curricular provision at Woodham Academy has expanded further to include an extensive range of lunchtime activities, which are available for all students.  There’s something for all including stem robotics, samba band, puzzle and games club, rowing, handball, reading club, homework club and smart textiles, just to name a few! With a total of 32 teacher led activities on offer, Woodham students are certainly spoilt for choice. Activities provide students with the opportunity to trial new things, meet new people, socialise with their friends and most of all keep students happy, active and entertained throughout their lunch period.
Lily Mansfield in Year 7 commented “it’s nice that there is somewhere to go at lunchtime to play netball with my friends”.  Harry Kitching, also in Year 7, is making the most of the glider club. “I have always loved model aeroplanes and was delighted to see that there was a lunchtime activity that involved making model gliders. I have made six gliders so far and they all fly!”.
