On Sunday 4 December, one member took part in the Run Durham Dalton Park 5k race with Ian Stothard finishing in a time of 40:17. There were two members taking part in the 10k race, with David Stothard (1:02:24) and Shaun Dodds (55:54) representing the club.
On the same day it was the next race in the NYSD Cross Country League with this taking place at Summerhill in Hartlepool. The race was impacted by the fact that it was the Club’s Christmas Party the night before. However, there were two members taking part in the Senior and Veteran Women’s race with Sarah Gill finishing in a time of 35:51 and Kelly Dickinson in a time of 45:04. In the Senior and Veteran’s Men’s race, there were five members taking part with Matt Muir first back for the club in a time of 42:10. He was followed by Dez Fielden 43:58, Shaun Dodd 47:40, Richard Holland 48:14, Stuart Joyce 48:47 and Martyn Knox 50:57. There were also two members that took part in the Over 65 Veteran Men’s race with Trevor Needham 33:22 and John Burnside 35:20 taking part. In the Over 70 Men’s race, Kevin Greenall notched up another first place in a time of 40:06.
Saturday saw 26 Members start their weekend with a parkrun taking in the Sedgefield, Stewart Park, Darlington South Park, Hackworth, Hazlehead, Keswick Jubilee and Ohio and Erie Canal Reservation events.
At Sedgefield, John Firby finished in second place in a time of 17:51. Over at Stewart Park in Middlesbrough, Gareth Kyle went one place better finishing first in a time of 18:16. This was also Gareth‘s best time for this course.
The club was well represented at the Hackworth parkrun again, with Dez Fielden finishing third in a time of 19:54. Yvonne Blewitt also achieved a new parkrun personal best in this event finishing in a time of 28:57.
Two members took part in the Hazlehead parkrun in Aberdeen with Peter Jarps finishing in a time if 25:08 and Donna Jarps in a time of 29:10. Over in Keswick John Surtees finished fifth in a time of 17:25 with Tracey Surtees finishing as third female in a time of 20:21, which was also her fastest time for this course.
At the Ohio and Erie Canal Reservation, Paul Rands finished in second place in a time of 21:57 which was also a new personal best for this course and two seconds faster than last week.
