Five weeks of overnight closures on A19 in Durham for resurfacing work.
Overnight closures lasting five weeks are due to be put in place on the A19 in Durham to allow for essential resurfacing work.
The northbound carriageway of the A19 between the A689 Wolviston and A179 Sheraton will be closed from Sunday 20 August 2023 onwards.
The carriageway will be closed between 8pm and 6am Sunday to Friday. There will also be a daytime 50mph speed limit for traffic travelling on temporary surfaces.
The closures will be lifted on Saturdays as well as during the Bank Holiday from Friday 25 August to Monday 28 August 2023.
Michael Morgan, National Highways Project Manager, said:
“This resurfacing is essential and will futureproof this part of the A19 for years to come.
“We are carrying work out on weekends only to minimise disruption, but I would still advise road users to check the diversion route and please allow extra time for your journey.”
A diversion route will be in place during the closures, directing traffic from the A19 via the A689 and A179 to re-join the northbound carriageway at the A19/A179 Sheraton Interchange.
