People in County Durham are being reminded to have their say on potential new council boundaries.
The Local Government Boundary Commission is asking for residents’ views on proposed new electoral divisions for Durham County Council.
The commission, an independent body which determines electoral boundaries, is reviewing arrangements in the county to ensure councillors represent a similar number of electors.
It has proposed the number of councillors in the county should be reduced from 126 to 98 and will be drawing up new boundaries to reflect the suggested change.
A ten-week consultation is being held to gather residents’ views on the proposals and is due to close on Monday 30 January.
Residents living in the county have just under one week left to have their say on the new boundary proposals.
The commission will use the feedback to draw up proposals for new boundaries. There will then be a further phase of consultation before boundaries are finalised.
Residents can get involved in the online consultation by visiting www.consultation.lgbce.org.uk/node/38197
Feedback can also be provided via email at reviews@lgbce.org.uk or by post, by writing to: Review Officer (County Durham), LGBCE, PO Box 133, Blyth, NE24 9FE.
