Woodham Academy’s current students, Sydney Etherington and Georgia Thelwell and a former student Lisa Robinson, had a fantastic opportunity this summer. They travelled to Disneyland Paris to perform with Disney’s Dream Maker Events on the main stage as part of a dance performance. Sydney, Georgia and Lisa are dedicated to dance and are exceptionally talented performers. The students raised their own funds to help them get to Disney, where they stayed with the team at the Disney Hotel.

The students were selected to be a part of the dance team at a dance competition in Newcastle, where they were scouted by Craig Wharmby; a choreographer from Liverpool. His dance company offers fantastic opportunities to young talented dancers, where they can travel around the UK and Europe to perform at events.

All three girls have trained with Claire Walton’s Dance School, now with Nadine’s Academy in Hartlepool, Dance City in Newcastle and RAD Ballet in Bishop Auckland. They have also represented Woodham’s Dance Academy throughout their time in school. As well as all of this, Sydney and Georgia are ambassadors for dance wear brands.

Sydney and Georgia have now been selected to perform with Craig Wharmby, at Alton Towers in October, at the huge ‘Scarefest’ Halloween Event. Both girls have also been successfully selected to be a part of Woodham’s Thailand Expereince. This followed a competitive application and interview process where a total of 14 students were offered a place. The students will be travelling to Thailand next summer, where they will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to volunteer in an elephant sanctuary for a full week, living with and helping orphaned elephants that have been rescued from the tourist trade.

Woodham Academy is extremely proud of their students’ achievements, both in and out of school.

Well done girls!
