Emily (Beast) Denham travelled to Newcastle on Sunday 11th May to defend her National School’s Boxing Title, she has been a member of Aycliffe Amateur Boxing Club for three years and goes from strength to strength and all the members of the club send their congratulations.
In 2023 Emily and team went to Guilford in Surrey for the final and won against Inola Smith from Manchester with a first round stoppage. In 2024 they didn’t have to travel far as the final was held in Newcastle University Sports Centre where Emily boxed Ruby- Jo de Santos from Islington London and again, won by stoppage in the second round. On Sunday 11th May 2025, again in the final, she met a girl called Lola Wickes from Leo’s Boxing Gym in London and the beast just gets stronger, winning the contest by a stoppage in the first round, she now goes into the Three Nations Championships in Wales at the end of May and the winner will go to the European Championships sometime in August.

If anyone would like to join the classes at the boxing club, the age groups are, Kid Gloves from 4 years old to 9 years old, 4.30pm to 5.15pm, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Junior classes 9 years old to 14 years old, 6pm to 7pm, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Senior classes from 15 years old +, 7pm to 8pm, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, at Acorn House, Durham Way North, Aycliffe Business Park, DL5 6HP. The boxing club is also open on a Saturday morning from 10am to 12 for anyone that would like to have a go at punching the bags or just to do a bit of keep fit.
