As all our TJFA Teams have completed their season, focus is on the final few weeks of the season for our Russel Foster Teams, new teams and teams entering Tournaments.
Under 6 Development Teams
On a hot Sunday morning, both of our newest U6 teams travelled to play Middleton Rangers to play their second friendlies.
First up were the Boys U6 Eagles and despite playing some good passing football, were punished on the break, as their striker was scoring freely and they raced into a commanding lead. However, the boys continued to play good football and gradually chipped away at the lead and, as the clock ticked down, a brilliant free kick found the top corner and the game finished level. Great determination was shown by all eight boys.
Then it was the turn of the Girls U6 Wildcats, who showed how quickly they are learning, they kept the opposition to long shots and a few chances and were determined in their tackling. When they were put through on goal, the girls were composed and found the back of the net. The girls all played in every position in this convincing win, as they continue to learn the game.
Darlington Quakers 2 v Aycliffe U12 Girls 2
After a recent run of good results, the girls travelled to third placed Darlington, full of confidence. Aycliffe took the lead from a superb volley from Amelia that dipped over the keeper. However, the home team equalised just before HT. Then a spectacular run from Phoebe, shaking off several tackles, slotted for Aycliffe to retake the lead. However, Darlo did equalise and the points were shared. POTM: Poppy.
Stockton Town 1 v Aycliffe U15 Angels 3
Mid-week, the girls travelled to the league leaders and took a first half lead from Charli. However, Stockton scored from the restart before Charli scored again to restore the lead. As the time ticked away, Stockton were pushing everyone forward, but this allowed a ball to be cleared to Faith on the half way line, beat a defender and slotted into the corner.
Aycliffe U14 Girls 2 v Durham County FC 4
For the second time this season the girls had to face Durham with only ten players available. Aycliffe battled their way through to give a very entertaining game. In open play, Aycliffe were still more than capable of standing toe to toe with the opposition despite being a player down, but unfortunately, they conceded from three corners leaving them a bit too much to come back from. POTM: Jasmine.
Aycliffe U12 Eagles 6 v Durham WFC 0
A commanding performance from the lads on a Sunny morning at the OakLeaf. The boys took their chances and restricted the visitors as they consolidated second place with three games of the season left to play
Washington Wildcats 2 v Aycliffe U15 Girls 0
An emotional day as this was the last game as a team for this group of girls. On a hot afternoon, and with just one sub available, the girls gave everything they had and created the better of the chances in a game that, on another day, we could have won. An amazing group of players that will be missed by the club. We wish you all the best and look forward to your progression.
Under 9 Wildcats
The girls travelled to the Annual Flamingo Land Tournament, finishing second in their group, W2 D1 L1. They progressed to the main semi final, but were unfortunate to get beaten but finished a commendable fourth overall. Player of the Tournament: Matilda.
Thornaby 1 v Aycliffe U11 Wildcats 4
From the first whistle, the girls looked sharp and focused, handling a combative Thornaby side with determination and togetherness. They got their reward with an opening goal from Elsie, Ellie added two more before Thornaby pulled one back, but Aycliffe put the game to bed with another goal from Elsie.
