Under 12 Eagles 1 v 0 Darlington TSC
Before the game both teams took part in a minute’s applause in memory of coach Darren Scott, who passed away a year ago. It was an evenly matched game, seeing the Eagles clinch another 3 points. Eagles took the lead in the first half after an own goal. The boys battled on, winning tackles and working hard both on and off the ball to hold on to the end. MOM shared between Jack and Riley.
Under 14 Girls 1 v 2 Darlington Locomotives
A very cagey affair that unfortunately ended in defeat for the Aycliffe girls. An early penalty for Darlo gave them a boost and Aycliffe struggled to get a hold of the game. The game didn’t flow for either team but take nothing away from the Aycliffe girls who never gave up. POTM went to Megan who played out of position but made some crucial blocks and tackles. Goal: Demi, sweet free kick.
Under 14 Eagles 1 v 0 St Harton and Westoe Minors
Another game dominated by The Eagles, not an outstanding performance, but they worked hard and came away with a well-deserved 3 points. It was difficult to get any momentum, but the boys did enough to win the game. Goal from Olly. MOM: Will.
Under 14 Girls (Sunday) 4 v 1 Winlaton Hurricanes
Our first win against Winlaton on our 4th attempt and it was a convincing one. The 14 players involved were all superb and played at the top of their games. We dominated the first half and went 2-0 up through an OG, then a quality free kick from Lana. Winlaton pulled one back, but we went on to score 2 more in the second half (Eveie then Romilly). Stars: Isobel & Evie P.
Under 13 Girls 2 v 2 Hetton Juniors Girls (2-0 after Penalties)
It doesn’t get much better than a semi-final won on penalties. What a game. Hetton went 2-0 up in the first half. We threw everything at them in the second half. We created loads of chances and pulled level at 2-2 with 2 goals from Romilly. We were unlucky not to win in normal time but went on to win 2-0 on penalties, with Heidi and Erin scoring and Layken saving 3. Stars: Romilly & Layken.
Under 13 Boys 0 v 2 Riverside Juniors
An evenly matched first half saw both teams working hard to cancel each other out, Youthy did manage to create a couple of chances, but were unbale to convert, HT 0-0. The lads were undone by two early second half goals, but they never stopped, never gave up hope. Hitting the crossbar, one dipped the wrong side of the crossbar & Riverside’s keeper pulled off an amazing save to keep us at bay. Parents & Coaches MOM: James & Jacob.
Under 12 Girls 2 v 1 Stockton
The game didn’t get off to the best start, as we conceded after 6 minutes following a defensive mix-up. It took us a while to get back into it, but once we settled down our passing and movement improved, and we took the game to our opposition. We went on to score once in each half of the game to secure a hard fought win.
Under 11 Wildcats v Hartlepool Ladies
In what was an extremely physical game, we took a share of the spoils this morning. Hartlepool took the lead but we bounced back when Olivia scored from a cross by Lucy. We took the lead when Nyah broke through their defence and her shot rebounded to Phoebe to score from close range. Late in the game Hartlepool equalised to the spoils. Every girl put in a massive effort in what was a tough game.
Under 9 Eagles v Prissick Rovers Madrid
Once again a fantastic display from the Eagles with some great passing from all the players. Eagles eventually got the breakthrough when George D got fouled in the box and Floyd R smashed the resulting penalty into the top corner. George H then delivered a great cross for George D to finish from a tight angle. Adam L made some last-ditch tackles at the back and Harry M made some great saves.
