Dear Sir,
Having recently witnessed numerous accounts of anti-social behaviour in our town, I feel compelled to ask the question, why is there no police visibility in Newton Aycliffe, both on the beat and car patrols?
On Saturday alone there were a number of youths racing through the town centre on bikes, pulling wheelies and generally being a nuisance, the same youths were congregated near the Halifax cash machine while an elderly lady was withdrawing cash.
On a weekday evening, coming home from work, I have seen balaclava clad individuals on electric bikes, motorcycles and quad bikes racing around the industrial estate roads with no lights and no regard for other drivers or pedestrians.
This town used to have a multi-story police station with police patrolling the town day and night, now we don’t have a fully functioning police station or any police presence on the town to stamp out the anti-social behaviour, not only is this sending out the wrong message to these individuals but begs the question as to why we have no visible police presence?
This town is being sorely let down by the police and councillors alike.
