Young people are invited to put on a show of their own making, thanks to a special summer school at the Gala Theatre.

Act Up encourages budding performers and aspiring technicians, aged between seven to 15 years, to work together over five days to create their own performance.

With the help of professional drama teachers, directors and technicians, the fun sessions will conclude in a final performance on Friday 9 August at 7.00pm.

Robin Byers, service manager for Durham Gala Theatre, said: “All are invited, whether it’s a new interest or a life-long passion. Theatre can have a transformative effect on young people’s lives, helping them grow confidence, make friends and explore the limits of their imagination.

“The course is a great opportunity to experience the world of theatre and make use of our excellent facilities at Gala Theatre, as well as the professionals who will offer great guidance.”

Act Up summer school runs from Monday 5th to Friday 9th August, 10am to 4pm daily, 1pm to 8pm on Friday.

The course costs £120, with a discounted price of £100 per child sibling.
