Sunday 10th of May saw two of two Aycliffe Tri Clubcoaches competing for selection in the 2016 GB Age Group Team. Michelle Scott and Andrew Sedgwick both travelled to St Neots in Cambridge to take part in the British Sprint Triathlon Championships. Over 700 competitors took part in the 750m river swim, 20k bike section and 5k run.
Michelle was first to compete exiting the water with the top female triathletes, she stayed strong over the rest of the course finishing 9th in her age group giving her a place in the ITU World Age Group Championships in Chicago 2016.
Next up Andrew Sedgwick took on the course coming out of the water in the top 3. With a massive field of almost 200 of the top men in his age group, Andy gave a fantastic performance and finished in the top 30.
A week later and Michelle was back in action at the Cleveland Sprint Triathlon in Stokesly. Still on a high from qualifying for Chicago the previous week Michelle gave an outstanding performance in the 400m pool swim, 20k bike and 5k run finishing 1st lady in a time of 1.03 almost beating her own course PB.
Also racing on May 17th Dan Halladay took on the Olympic Distance at Loch Lomond. Dan gave it his all and finished in the top 20. And a final mention to congratulate Graham Atkins who will also be wearing the GB Tri suit next year in the 2016 ETU Standard Distance Duathlon European Championships after qualifying for a place at the Stockton Standard Distance Duathlon.
