ACORN Residents launched into 2015 with an hilarious trip to see Aladdin at the Gala Theatre Durham. Fifty members of the popular group comprising of parents and children attended the event, which is supported by the Big Lottery Awards for all scheme.
Since its early beginnings as a neighbourhood watch group ACORN has worked to achieve a community atmosphere through a mixture of activities, events and problem solving.
Meeting monthly at the Royal British Legion Club, the three elements of the organisation ACORN, little ACORNS and Woodham Burn Neighbourhood Watch come together with local and County Councillors, Police and guest speakers to plan events, solve local issues and investigate ways to improve our environment. All are welcome so come along and join us.
February will see ACORN taking a trip to the South Lakes Zoo and plans are already being discussed for the third annual Easter Petting Zoo event that will take place in Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre. Following the success of previous Petting Zoo events ACORN are planning a much larger event for this year and are inviting other voluntary groups and especially animal oriented groups to join us in a community extravaganza.
