Dear Sir,

I just received an unsolicited error-strewn flyer from the Lib Dems highlighting their big issues for the town: speeding on the A167 and litter! Not the political crisis, climate change, over-development, unwanted immigration, congestion, pollution, the economy, Brexit, rain forest removal, the overstretched NHS etc.

One bigger issue locally and nationally is elected politicians acting against the wishes of the majority of the electorate, cocksure they know what’s best.

We have a political crisis caused by MPs failing in their promises to the electorate, and the only way out appears to be a decisive General Election.

Too many politicians have an agenda for political correctness rather than common sense and pragmatism.

People listen to an angry autistic 16 year old schoolgirl, who refuses to go to school, snarling through a menacing speech telling the UN she and her generation blames them and us for destroying the planet. There is no veil to her threats – ‘we will never forgive you’! We already have had civil disruption, supposedly organised by children, but with a strong left wing anarchic undercurrent. Worrying times.

The assertion that mankind is primarily responsible for climate change is just not true, and even if it wasn’t, most people on the planet believe in some form of God – how can anyone convince them their God isn’t determining the climate and get them to act to stop climate change? Politicians want us to set an example, so we suffer while the rest of the world carries on regardless, as does climate change.

Meanwhile our local planners promote urban sprawl – more and more development, destroying green spaces, while declaring a climate emergency, saying we need to reduce our carbon footprint, rather like the Duke of Sussex jetting off all over the world in his private jet to promote carbon reduction! Marsh land is a major store of carbon, so how does building on it sit alongside a climate emergency?

No doubt humans are damaging the planet, but there are serious questions over the desirability and potential effectiveness of the actions proposed to address this, and big questions over the coherence of some decisions being taken.

There will soon be a General Election. The Lib Dems and Labour Party are obsessed with ‘equality’, which can never exist, and ‘diversity’, promoting people they ironically, condescendingly regard as inferior and incapable, including the likes of Greta Thunberg. The Labour Party now wants a 4 day week! Vote for them, bankrupt the country and watch them strip you of your assets. This is the party which brought in a 98% marginal tax rate under Harold Wilson, prompting an exodus of wealth creators to the detriment of everyone.

Vote Lib Dem and they will annul the referendum result, successfully and disgracefully thwarting Brexit. Vote Labour and they will negotiate a deal with the EU which is so close to being in the EU that nobody will notice the difference, and they will offer the chance of this or actually remaining. The EU will aim to offer the worst possible deal, so we vote to remain, so a Labour vote is also a vote to thwart Brexit.

A Conservative vote is the only viable route to secure the Brexit the electorate voted for. A Brexit Party vote will simply dilute the Conservative vote and thwart Brexit. A Conservative overall majority is the way to secure a clean and decisive Brexit and avert the huge risks of a neo-Marxist Labour government led by a very dangerous extremist backed by bullies from the extreme left Momentum group. I am backing Boris. It is the only sensible way forward.
