1407 (Newton Aycliffe) squadron’s Cadet Warrant Officer, Paul Ughra, was formally appointed as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for County Durham at a ceremony at Bradford Armoury, Darlington last week.

The role includes attendance with the Lord-Lieutenant, Mrs Sue Snowdon, at a number of official engagements, including remembrance events, Royal visits and parades.

The Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets are appointed on an annual basis and include representatives from Sea Cadets, Army Cadet Force and Air Training Corps.

CWO Ughra was nominated by his Commanding Officer, Flt. Lt. Karin Scott, and had to then undertake an interview with the Wing Commander of Durham/Northumberland Wing and a second interview with representatives of the Reserve Forces and Cadet Association.

Flt. Lt. Scott said, “CWO Ughra has been a cadet for over five years and he has achieved numerous certificates and awards for his dedication and service, his appointment is well deserved.”
