Local Liberal Democrat councillors Michael Stead and Lindsey Aston have fixed a long running flooding issue which was leaving residents, and especially children, with wet feet. They have secured the installation of a new drainage system on the path from Byerley Park to Greenfield School.
Used by pupils and the wider community the path’s mud and stagnant water was causing resident’s concerns. During very wet periods there could be several inches of water in the area.
“It’s fantastic to have delivered the drain as the winter weather hits, when it gets wetter, muddier and colder,” said Lib Dem Councillor Lindsey Aston.
County Councillor Michael Stead, who arranged for the work through the County Council, added, “No one wants to start the school day with muddy feet, I’m delighted with the work we have managed to get done to fix this problem.”
The Lib Dem Councillor also used local funding to improve standing areas and paths outside Horndale School last year, where parents had to stand on mud and grass.
