Darlington are looking for a new manager following the decision to part company with Tommy Wright before Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Leamington.

The club’s statement revealed that poor results was the reason behind their decision especially compared to the potential loss of revenue from season ticket holders and the Boost the Budget payments.

Wright remained in charge for the Leamington game, and was given a warm send-off by the 1146 fans, who are now speculating on who his successor will be.

There were a dozen applications before the job was formally advertised on Sunday evening, and there have been several suitable applicants.

Bearing in mind the urgency in terms of team building for next season, the board is hoping to announce a new manager within the next fortnight.

Wright’s assistant, Alan White, is staying at the club and will continue to run the successful academy, which hopes to have an intake of over 20 new students for the next academic year.
