The parents of the Newton Aycliffe under 8 eagles held a quiz night last Saturday and raised £700 towards the summer football tournament in Blackpool.

Everyone enjoyed a fun quiz with mini games, spot prizes and had pie, peas and roast potatoes for refreshment. A raffle was held at the end of the night with an amazing amount of over 60 prizes up for grabs.

A special mention needs to go to the Newton Aycliffe Youth Council who kindly donated £200 towards the fund, another great example of how the community supports one another.

The parents would also like to thank the local businesses within Newton Aycliffe who showed their generosity in donating prizes for the raffle to help generate such a fantastic amount of funds. It is a great showing of community spirit and helping a local team to succeed.

With the donation from Honest John for new tracksuits, it takes the total amount raised to over £1300, which is an incredible amount for the team.

The funds have gone towards paying for the new tracksuits and rain coats. Paying for every player to go to Blackpool, as well as having enough funds to pay for the boys to take part in an activity at Blackpool and have a sit down meal together. The remaining funds will go towards future parties for the boys.

Everyone associated with the eagles would like to express their gratitude for the prizes, buying tickets, coming to the quiz and helping to make the night a massive success. We hope the team have a fantastic trip to Blackpool, make the town proud and create everlasting memories.
