3.00pm, Sunday 19th May
Central Hall, Dolphin Centre

The outstandingly talented Chen brothers – Jeremy (13) and James (15) – are both students at the esteemed Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, having begun their piano studies aged six.

James was awarded his LRSM at 13 and performed his debut piano concerto with Teesside Symphony Orchestra in 2016 at age 12! Jeremy achieved his ABRSM at the age of 12. Both were the prize winners in Chopin International Festival in Warsaw in 2016 and in April this year, James won the prestigious Emanuel Trophy Piano Competition 2019 at the North London Arts Festival.

Each will give a recital either side of the interval and their programmes will include works by J.S. Bach, Haydn, Beethoven, Liszt, Chopin, Debussy and Prokofiev. This is a great opportunity to support young, local talent.

Greg Johnson, Chairman of Darlington Piano Society said “the Arts Festival gives us the opportunity to showcase the brilliance of these two youngsters, outside of our usual recital seasons. This will be their first ever recital performance in Darlington and I’m hoping that many will join us in an afternoon of exhilarating music making”.

Tickets can be purchased online at the Society’s website – www.dpiano.co.uk – and at the door on the day – £10 (U21 – Free). No tickets will be on sale at the Dolphin Centre beforehand.
