It’s not every staff meeting at Sugar Hill that starts with cake, but when cake was on the agenda for a whole school staff meeting last week it certainly went down a treat!
The Macmillan Coffee Morning is usually an annual event in our school calendar and parents and carers are invited to attend. Since the pandemic this has not been possible.
For many staff at Sugar Hill the Macmillan charity is close to their hearts. It was certainly a welcome addition to the meeting agenda to start with ‘cake and a chat’ whilst raising funds for the charity.
Special thanks go to Mrs McCormick for organising cake and to Miss Brister for arranging staff treats (candle and poem). With Miss Brister also holding a Coffee Morning at home £160.00 was sent to the charity.
Next year we are hoping our annual coffee morning returns.
At Sugar Hill we are working towards the Emotional Well-being Award and it has to be said that this start to a two hour staff meeting was very well received and appreciated, putting staff well-being on the agenda too! Staff just couldn’t say ‘no’ to such yummy cake and raising funds for such a worthwhile cause at the same time.
Miss Brister posted a special thank you to staff for all their support in boosting the total money raised from the two events as it is a charity that means so much to her and her family.
