Dear Sir,
I am hoping that the Emma Raducanu stunning victory in the US Open Tennis in New York last month will give a boost to all racket sport participation in the country. I myself found my way to Badminton having watched the Wimbledon Tennis Championships on TV as a teenager and have played for many years.
Last week I visited the coaching sessions held by Aycliffe Badminton Club at the Leisure Centre every Friday night and was impressed with what I saw. Two qualified coaches were leading the session aimed at juniors and adult beginners. They say they are prepared to teach all aspects of the game, racket skills, tactics etc. Conveniently the tuition is before the senior club session so anyone who picks the sport up quickly can progress.
As winter draws in these sessions are ideal for adults wanting to get into Badminton or parents who want to encourage their children to take up a fast exciting sport.
