Our Annual Presentation Day, which took place recently at Woodham Academy, was a resounding success, with an electric atmosphere buzzing throughout the venue. The event showcased the remarkable achievements and progress made by our young football stars! A massive thankyou to Woodham Academy for their continued support.
This season has been a great success on the field with a number of our teams gaining promotion, including our title winning U14’s, who romped home to the league title in great form, also resulting in them winning the ‘Team of the Year’ award, well done to Neil and the lads. A brilliant season also for our U12’s, U14 Blacks and U15 Reds who were also promoted. Our U18’s had a great season finishing runners up in Division One in their first season at the highest level, with 4 of the squad also playing weekly for the senior team in the Northern League Div 1 title winning team, visibly proving the true pathway we provide from junior to senior football. First team players Aaron Brown & Ethan Wood were also on hand to present the trophies, which was a great touch, the joy and excitement on the kids’ faces as they received their awards was truly heart-warming, and reflects what grassroots football is all about. A big thankyou to the senior team for your support!
Each player in the club was acknowledged for their individual achievements, highlighting their growth, improvement and dedication to the club and respective teams.
Winners of this year’s Chairman’s award went to Mark Rutherford and Neil Churcher, who both go over and above what is expected, Neil spends countless hours ensuring our pitches are ready for game day, as well as his other roles, and Mark has single handed guided his team to 5 successive promotions. Well done fellas!
Four of our players also received long service awards, given to players who have stayed with the club for over 10 years, showing true loyalty and dedication, so thank you and well done goes to; Thomas Aspinall, Connor Maitchell, Harvey Lee & Aidan Armstrong, a great achievement!
Our growth has been nothing short of phenomenal, with 6 new teams present at the presentation, and 23 teams going into the 23/24 season. This is a reflection of the platform we provide, with some of the best facilities and coaching in the area. We continue to support and nurture the talent of our young players, ensuring they have the opportunity to reach their full potential both on and off the field, making our club the club of choice for so many young footballers.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the families, friends and sponsors who have supported our young players throughout the season. Your unwavering encouragement and presence at matches have undoubtedly played a significant role in their success. Your support is greatly appreciated.
On a final note, a huge thank you goes to our committee, whose behind the scenes work and dedication ensures days like this go ahead. Special thanks to our Secretary Vicki Aspinall, whose planning of the day left no stone unturned, to Joanne, Neil, Simon, Rudder and everyone else that helped on the day, not forgetting our Chairman Adam Cayless who compered the day on stage. A great team and fantastic volunteers.
Once again, congratulations to all the players, coaches and families involved in making our Presentation Day a MASSIVE success. Here’s to another great season ahead!
