Dear Sir,
I would like to say what a great community we have. Not everyone likes Halloween and they have their own reasons, I used to be one of those people, lights out and hide away, but since having grandchildren, I have embraced the celebrations of Halloween and opened my door to every door knock, and what a surprise I get to see the very young with their biggest smiles wearing witches hats with rosy cheeks from the cold air.
The teenagers tying to recapture their childhood memories of Halloween and now creating memories of friendship with their siblings, mothers, fathers, caregivers, chaperoning their loved ones around the streets, lights were lit up like Blackpool Illuminations and Halloween displays like the Madame Tussauds, the weather was warm and the neighbours friendly.
My granddaughters, 6 and 3, were so happy, we gave 40 bags of sweets to Trick or Treaters (wish we had more). Last year was good but this year was full of kindness and definitely good will.
So, big shout out to everyone who took park around Newton Aycliffe, Woodham, Aycliffe Village, School Aycliffe, Heighington and especially Shafto Way area. So proud of the community of Newton Aycliffe, because if it wasn’t for them Halloween would not have happened and there would be a lot of disappointed children. We walked to school talking and sharing the event with other children and parents and we cannot wait for next year.
Helen Boyd.
