Supported by the DFE, Greenfield Community College has been able to position itself at the forefront of digital skills. The school, serving Newton Aycliffe, Shildon and surrounding villages, has been able to attract over £100,000 of investment to enhance its IT infrastructure. When complete the school will have the latest WiFi system across the school, supported by new servers, and access to 500 new devices deployed across departments. The plans should all be in place for the new term in September.
Digital agility is an important skill for the future, the new system will be transferable to the amazing new learning facilities planned. The school has already won awards for its use of digital platforms and continues to build on the lessons from lockdown to provide a strong blended learning experience for its students. Greenfield received praise from Ofsted for its deployment of technology to promote an online offer that provided ‘business as normal’ during lockdown.
Headteacher, David Priestley, said “We believe that our skilled teachers should have the best resources possible to provide extraordinary opportunities for each and every student to thrive in a safe secure and successful environment.”
