On behalf of ACORN Community Association, I would like to say a big thank you to all those people who stopped by to say hello at the recent community pop up shop in the town centre. Can I also give big thanks to the town centre management team for allowing us to use one of their shop units. This event allowed our group to meet many people who weren’t aware of the services we provide in Newton Aycliffe including coach trips, events and information sign posting.

Our next trip is to South Shields on Saturday 24th August and we still have a few seats available on a first come basis at only £5 per seat. We are also planning a trip to the Pickering 1940s weekend on Saturday 12th October.

ACORN’s junior group little ACORNS are busily organising our annual family Halloween party to be held in Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre on the evening of 26th October, early details feature disco by Professor Nincompoop, fun and games, free raffle and buffet; entry £1.

ACORN consists of four parts Woodham Burn Neighbourhood Watch, ACORN Residents Association which investigates local issues, little ACORNS our junior section which involves children in our community and of course our charity arm Acorn Community Association which supports our events and trips.

If you think our group may be something your family may be interested in or if you would like to join us in our activities, please contact us on 01325 321471.
