Greenfield Community College were thrilled to attend the Artsmark Celebration Event at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art to accept the prestigious Platinum Artsmark Award.

The evening brought representatives from regional schools who had received Artsmark status. Executive Headteacher, Mr David Priestley was present to accept the award on behalf of Greenfield Community College. The event was organised by Culture Bridge North East and included a lovely opportunity to explore a new exhibition ‘To Me, To You’ by Mick Peter. This was followed by the opening speeches and the award ceremony.

Artsmark is the creative quality standard for schools, accredited by Arts Council England. The award provides a clear framework for teachers to plan, develop and evaluate arts, culture and creativity across the curriculum. In order to become an Artsmark school Greenfield developed the arts and culture provision to create a broad and balanced curriculum.

“I was delighted to accept our Artsmark Platinum Award. It is a great achievement, we are committed to delivering a high-quality creative art and cultural experience and we look forward to continuing our development in the future” said Mr Priestley.

Through Artsmark, Greenfield Community College, working with Greenfield Arts, will continue to incorporate arts and culture into every student’s learning, knowledge and understanding, helping them to build skills of resilience, reflection, confidence and to be successful in all areas of their life.
