Dear Sir,

It is sadly that time for local people to cast their votes for who they would like to represent them in local elections. Why do I say “sadly”? Well, all we see is each candidate writing in the local press simply condemning their opponents and not talking about what they plan to achieve for the local population. I have lived in Aycliffe for 30 years and nothing has changed when it comes to how some of these candidates behave.

I laugh when I read their ‘Why Me?’ summaries. Most state that they have lived on the town for many years, and some still are or have been Councillors. They seem to believe that because they have been Councillors for years, that we should vote for them. In reality this is a reason why not to vote for them. They have had their chance to show the people of Aycliffe what they can do and I think it is time to vote for candidates who have not had the opportunity.

Local elections are not like National elections and people should vote for whom they feel will help the people of this Town and not simply vote for their Political party. I ask people to ask themselves, what has this candidate achieved for the people of this Town and vote accordingly?
