Well, what an event last Saturdays Fair at the Pioneering Care Centre was, thank you for letting me take part, Jenny and the staff did an amazing job but I would never have managed without June and Valerie, they were amazing. Can I also say a big thank you to everyone who came and purchased our lovely items which were all hand made. Andrea who knitted the Christmas Puddings, also thanks to Hazel, Joyce, Mary, Jo and Nev, Community Spirit, Mary, Ron and John for taking the time and trouble to come from Bishop Auckland with a card and a donation and finally Jackie and John.
All monies raised goes directly to our hedgehogs, not only the ones I have now but for every admission for quite some time to come. Angela and Ed of Grange Vets are always on hand should I need them but I have quite an extensive supply of medicines and diagnostic tools here for any emergency I am faced with, I treat a lot without needing them to leave the house the majority of the time.
Also they need feeding and cleaning twice a day, I am up around 6am and sort them whilst my family are still sleeping, I like them to stay clean, comfy and healthy. Holly likes her Royal Canin puppy mousse.
On a more serious note, the climate change has caused us to admit very small juvenile hedgehogs late in the year and every rescue is doing their utmost to bring them in because should they decide to hibernate, they won’t open their eyes again, they aren’t big enough to survive winter. If you see a hog out during the day it’s in trouble, whatever its size, but if you see a hog out and it looks small, whatever time of day, it’s in trouble too so please get advice.
