Last Friday, the year 6’s of St. Francis’ Junior school held a remembrance collective worship for the whole school and their families. The year 6’s took us through why we remember on the 11th day of the 11th month and why we wear poppies. They explained that it is to recall the end of the First World War in order to remember all those who have fought and died in the line of duty to keep us free. As a sign of respect and a time for reflection, the school and our visitors joined together in the two minutes silence. The children and staff did a fantastic job and showed such bravery speaking in front of the whole school, staff and family members. We would like to thank the families who attended our collective worship and for your continued support. The mini police in school also sold poppies and other remembrance goodies to raise money to support the Poppy Appeal who will use the money raised to provide support to the Armed Forces community in six key areas: Financial Support, Advice, Employment, Mobility, Housing and Mental Health.
