After a remarkable career spanning 57 years, David Hogg, Solicitor with Close Thornton Solicitors in Darlington, has announced his retirement in April 2024.
David joined Close Thornton straight from Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Darlington in 1967. He has held roles in various capacities including as a Legal Executive and then as a Solicitor and former Partner and has experience in many areas of the law ranging from residential conveyancing to agricultural property, landlord and tenant issues, other commercial property matters and company/commercial law, business sales and purchases and company mergers and acquisitions.
David has, most recently, held a role as a practising consultant liaising with clients, overseeing matters for long established clients and introducing them to Andrew Price, Mat Haynes and James Webb who will continue his legacy. David has been widely regarded for his unwavering commitment to Clients, his meticulous attention to detail and his profound understanding of the law.
David said “My intention is to put my feet up and relax both at home, at my static caravan in Cumbria and spend quality time with my wife. I am secretary to my Rotary Club at Great Aycliffe, Co Durham, and I also intend to play more golf if it ever stops raining!”
Andrew Price, Head of Commercial Property, said “I would like to thank David for his hard work, loyalty and expertise. He has provided invaluable support to the people of Darlington and beyond for many years, and I am proud to continue his legacy with my fellow Partner, Mat Haynes, together with James Webb, Solicitor, and the rest of the Commercial Property Team. I wish David a well-deserved and happy retirement.”
As David embarks on this new chapter of his life, the entire Close Thornton and Milners Group family extends its heartfelt gratitude for his years of service and friendship. While he may be retiring from his role as a solicitor, his legacy will continue to resonate within the firm and the broader legal community.
